U.S. Air Force Officer’s Pilot Badge, Cold War period

This miniature 2” pilot’s badge is sealed in its original government package and dated 1981.

It was designed to be worn by an Air Force officer on his or her Mess Dress uniform above their medals and decorations.

Its distinctive oxidized finish dates back to the Cold War and predates the current issue mirror-finish required for all U.S. Air Force uniform insignia after 1991.
