Mr. Kaufman says:
"This is a terrific relic from the Cold War!"
"This is a terrific relic from the Cold War!"
During the Cold War (1947-1991) against the Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact, the Nuclear Triad of the United States, (composed of the USAF nuclear armed B-29 bombers of S.A.C., the USAF Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs) System and the U.S. Navy's nuclear armed submarine force) proved to be an effective deterrent against the possibility of a first strike from the Soviets.
This finely detailed embroidered breast badge is sewn onto a leather base. Exceptional quality. Its Velcro attachment allowed the badge to be removed from a flight jacket or coverall when that garment was to be dry-cleaned.
Its construction and placement were similar to the leather squadron patches worn by American pilots and flight crews in the Army Air Force during World War II.
Brand new, never issued.
Only a few pieces available.
