'Mr. Kaufman’s Instructions for Proper Wear':
First: The bow of the nylon draw cord that inside the genuine leather sweatband is worn centered at the back of the head. If the size is correct, the leather sweatband should comfortably hug the scalp.
Second: With the bow placed directly at the back, the middle portion of the cardboard insert inside the beret is worn 'standing up' and centered over the wearer’s left eye.
Third: The leather sweatband is worn straight across the forehead approximately 1/2” above the wearer’s eyebrows. After wearing the beret for an hour or so, the leather will shape itself to the wearer’s head and the beret will fit better.
Fourth: As you face the mirror, gently drape (turn down) the beret on the right side, while at the same time, keep the leather band approximately ½” above the top of your ears.
Please remember that the beret is worn by military personnel who have very short hair. If the wearer has a lot of hair, the beret will not hug the scalp as it is designed to do.
