These are original military surplus from the 1970s and are popularly referred to as a 'John Wayne'!
The P38 was used by hundreds of thousands of soldiers, sailors, Airmen and Marines every day dating back to WWII to open their canned rations in the field.
Individually packaged in its original brown paper wrapper, three P-38s were included in every case of 12 'C' rations during the Vietnam War.
These were extremely common in their day and often tossed aside after it was used, but 50 years later- try and find a real one!
When MREs replaced the 'C' ration, cardboard and plastic became the norm and rations packaged in metal cans, individual mess kits and the P38 were phased out by Uncle Sam.
Don't confuse the ones we are offering for sale here with cheap imports! When this batch is gone, they'll be gone for good.
